Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater pearls come from oysters that mature in lakes or ponds. At freshwater pearl farms, each mussel is implanted with many mantle tissues and this process is called nucleation. Once the tissue has been inserted, the cells begin secreting nacre, which then transforms into a pearl (calcium carbonate compound). Once the pearls are fully developed, the freshwater pearls are taken out of the oysters, washed off, dried off, and sorted.

Sterling Silver

To bring out the shine and compensate for the shape of our pearls, we chose to mix it up with sterling silver. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver mixed with 7.5% copper and nickel to make up for silver's softness.
